Licence and trial problems
Find the message DirectConnect shows in the License section of its main window, and follow the steps for it.
“Connect either computer to the internet to start your free trial”
Starting the trial needs the internet once, on either computer. Connect one of them, and the trial starts. After that, it works offline.
“Trial ended”
The 14-day trial has finished on this computer. It still works with any licensed computer. To use it with an unlicensed one, click Buy a license, or enter a licence code and click Activate.
“Active on” another computer
Your licence is in use on the computer named in the message. Move it from that computer with Move License to…, or, if you no longer have it, click Use It Here Instead. See Move a licence to another computer.
“Couldn’t reach the license server”
Check this computer’s internet connection and click Try Again. Your files don’t need the internet, and a licensed computer keeps working offline for up to 30 days.
Another message from the licence server
DirectConnect shows the server’s reason, for example that the code wasn’t found or has been suspended. Check the code against your purchase email. If it still doesn’t work, contact us with the message.
The other computer’s files won’t open
If neither computer has a licence or an active trial, the bar at the bottom of the computer’s window says so, and its files don’t open. Activate a licence on either computer, and they open straight away.
